2024 marks the 150th anniversary of Coöperatieve Rundveeverbetering (CRV) in the Netherlands and Flanders, a milestone to be proud of. CRV therefore won’t let this anniversary year go unnoticed!
150 years CRV
150 years CRV
Farmers all over the world notice it every day on their farm. Raw materials are becoming scarcer, policymakers are making higher demands in relation to the impact on the environment and climate of farming and consumers have growing expectations at farm management.
But changes are timeless. There have always been challenges and farmers have always found solutions to meet these challenges. And in these uncertain times we support you, we do it together.
The world is changing, but you can count on CRV. Already for 150 years!
CRV has served farmers from all over the world
150 years of innovations
Through the past 150 years, CRV has served farmers from all over the world with innovations like:
- SireMatch, for optimal pairing and prevent inbreeding.
- HerdOptimizer, to select your best animals for breeding.
- FeedExcel to breed a feed efficient herd that produces more milk out of the same amount of feed and at the same time generates less emissions.
In the next 150 years, CRV wants to keep on serving farmers in the best possible way to create better cows for their herds and a better life for the farmers.
Our innovative way creating value for farmers
The foundation of the Cattle Improvement Co-operative, currently known as CRV, goes back to the year 1874. On December 5, 1874, the Dutch Cattle Herdbook (N.R.S) was founded in Amsterdam. This date marks the start of the Cattle Improvement Co-operative in the Netherlands. A few years later, livestock farmers in Flanders took the initiative to jointly register cattle.
After the establishment of the Herdbook for registration, the introduction of conformation assessment, milk control, breeding value estimation and Bull Advice Program followed.
And more recently the development of genomic test and the FeedExcel breeding strategy for increasing feed efficiency.
